Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the Vault, resources, PD and billing.
How do you decide something is “Science of Reading”?
We check four things before we call a resource aligned: peer-reviewed research behind the practice, systematic and explicit instruction, decodable text where it counts, and a real classroom pilot.
Exact sequencing is the murkiest corner of the field right now. Where research is still evolving, we say so on the resource page rather than pretending it’s settled.
What exactly do I get with my membership?
Guidance and support as you make the shift from balanced literacy to the Science of Reading: a library of Q&As, bite-sized videos, and guidance on using every resource.
Our exclusive PD library with new sessions added regularly, delivered by teachers and experts in literacy.
Thousands of pages of resources aligned to the science, plus the ability to request resources. It’s your one-stop shop for planning: find the skill you’re teaching, download, watch, done.
What grade level is this for?
Most of what we cover is for Pre-K through 2nd grade, but it’s for anyone teaching a child to read or working with struggling readers.
Are these the same resources on your website and TpT?
Yes, plus members get early access to anything new at no extra cost, and there are members-only exclusives. You can also request resources to meet your needs.
The Vault isn’t just about resources. The PD is the heart of it, and the resources are the tools to help you implement what you learn.
What training do you have?
It’s a great question to ask anyone offering services. Heidi is trained in LETRS, IMSE and Top 10 Tools, and is a National Facilitator for LETRS EC. She keeps learning from experts in the field, podcasts and the research itself.
Is this a curriculum?
No. None of our resources are designed as a complete curriculum. They help you easily implement science-based strategies alongside what you already use.
Can my school pay for this?
Yes. We recommend asking for reimbursement, and we have an editable funding letter you can use. We also accept POs: have your school email hello@bumblebeereading.com.
Each membership is for one teacher. For larger teams, see school & district pricing.
What if I join and decide it’s not for me?
No worries, you can cancel anytime. Because of the nature of the membership, there are no refunds, and access ends as soon as you cancel.
I’m a current LitFlix member. What happens to me?
You’ll keep full access and stay locked in at your current rate. Your account moves over with the same email. The first time you visit, click “Forgot your password?” on the login page (or use the link in our welcome email) to set a new password.
Can I learn about the Science of Reading without joining?
Absolutely. Heidi shares tons on Instagram and TikTok, and there’s a free resource library too. The Vault exists for teachers who want everything organized in one place, with guidance.
Why is the price so low compared to other memberships?
People tell us we give away too much. The goal is to help kids learn to read, so we keep it affordable for everyone. Most memberships offer resources or PD. We offer both, plus so much more.
What if I still have questions?
We’d love to help. Send us a note and we’ll get back to you.
